This project started because I wanted some coasters but I was not about to pay $7.00 for some coasters that I really did not like and only got 4 of them.
So, we have this wood pile in the back of the house from a oak tree that Brent (my sweetheart) and his dad cut down last year.

Well...guess what...Brent cut them into 8- 1/2 pieces for me and I am putting on several coats of varnish on them. See the pictures below.
The grain of the wood is very pretty....
